Kicking The Air

Detective Chief Inspector Harry Brock and his black assistant Detective Sergeant Dave Poole are called to Waterloo police station, London’s only floating nick, to investigate the murder of chorus girl Patricia Hunter whose body was found floating in the Thames by the river police. But there was more to the Hunter woman than dancing on the West End stage: shoplifter, prostitute and blackmailer. To complicate matters further, a Brighton bordello, an elusive Australian, a Crown Court judge, a clergyman and a well-heeled businessman come under scrutiny. And Brock acquires a new girlfriend. Brock and Poole work their way through this tortuous enquiry until, after a few false starts - and one or two errors on Brock’s part - they eventually knock on the murderer’s door.
